The updated Hyundai Exter has finally been launched in India at a starting price of Rs. 5.80 lakh, ex-showroom, following multiple test sightings over the past few months. While the overall formula remains unchanged, the new model brings minor design updates, feature additions, and revised variant nomenclature. Here’s a quick look at what’s different.
Exterior Changes
Visually, the Exter retains its familiar silhouette and proportions, with no major structural changes. However, Hyundai has introduced a revised front grille, updated bumpers, new alloy wheel design, and a redesigned spoiler to freshen things up.
Additionally, the updated model is now offered in two new exterior shades – Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte.
Interior and Features
Inside, the cabin layout remains largely unchanged, but there are a few noticeable updates. The new Exter gets a dual-tone Navy and Grey interior theme, a 3D carbon-pattern dashboard finish, and a new flat-bottom steering wheel. It also adds a folding driver armrest and updated upholstery for improved comfort.
On the feature front, the SUV now includes a dashcam, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Type-C charging port, enhancing its tech appeal.
Engine and Gearbox Options
Mechanically, the Exter remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine, offered with both manual and AMT gearbox options. The model also retains the dual-cylinder CNG setup, which is available with a manual transmission.
Rivals
With these updates, the Exter continues to compete with the likes of the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3 in the micro SUV segment. Both rivals have also seen recent updates, keeping the competition fresh in this space.
