- Will receive styling updates and new features
- Expected to continue with 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre petrol engines
Volkswagen India is set to unveil the facelifted Volkswagen Taigun in India on 9 April. This will mark the first major update for the SUV since its launch in 2021, bringing along cosmetic revisions, feature additions, and possible mechanical tweaks.
Based on recent spy shots, the updated Taigun is expected to feature a revised front fascia with connected LED DRLs and an illuminated logo, similar to newer global Volkswagen models like the Tayron R-Line. It could also get new alloy wheel designs, along with subtle updates to the rear profile, including revised tail lamps. Additionally, fresh exterior colour options are likely to be introduced.
Inside, the SUV is expected to receive a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new digital instrument cluster, and ambient lighting. Other anticipated additions include a panoramic sunroof, front parking sensors, and enhanced seat functionality, aimed at improving overall comfort and convenience.
Under the hood, the Taigun facelift is likely to retain the existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engines. However, the 1.0-litre unit could get a new eight-speed automatic gearbox, replacing the current six-speed torque converter.
With these updates, prices are expected to see a marginal increase over the current starting price of Rs. 11.42 lakh, ex-showroom, potentially in the range of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000.
